Earlier we listed the very best films that are now on Disney Plus for you. But what about the series? Very good, especially now that the extra category Star has been added, the streaming service is overflowing with great content. These are the best series on Disney Plus in no particular order!
10. Scrubs
We kick off the list of the best shows on Disney Plus with Scrubs. We follow trainee doctor JD (Zach Braff), who works at the Sacred Heart Hospital with his bestie Turk (Donald Faison). His relationship with Elliot (Sarah Chalke) and Turkish relationship with nurse Carla (Judy Reyes) are highlights, but there is so much more that makes this show great. The saddest moments you’ll ever see in a hospital series, a fantastic supporting cast, JD’s wonderfully absurd daydreams, song choices that touch your heart… and so much more. Go watch it!
9. Grey’s Anatomy
That other big hospital show that we can’t ignore in the list of the best shows on Disney+ is Grey’s Anatomy. The hit show started in 2005 and is now the longest-running hospital drama. The adventures of Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) and her many colleagues at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital have captivated millions of fans for sixteen years. Some scenes still give us palpitations! The series has everything. From steamy romance to brutal death scenes and many more memorable moments. Season 17 is currently in full swing and hopefully the Grey’s train will continue to rumble for years to come.
8. The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse
A new Mickey Mouse cartoon series, exclusive to Disney Plus. The adventures are based on the classic Disney cartoons, and therefore a lot sharper and more absurd than you are usually used to from Mickey and his friends. As a result, The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse is not only hilarious for children, but also for their parents! And let’s face it: Disney sign Mickey should not be missing from any Disney Plus list.
7. Modern Family
Sadly, last year, one of the greatest modern sitcoms of all time, as well as one of the best series on Disney Plus, Modern Family, came to an end. Fortunately, we can still completely binge all seasons as often as possible. And we will need that every now and then. The Dunphy, Pritchett, and Tucker families – including all their imperfections – got into the most hilarious situations, but just as often let tears run down our cheeks. The quality also remained top notch for 11 seasons – pretty good.
6. The Walking Dead
Zombie horror series The Walking Dead has reinvented itself several times and earns a spot on this the best series on Disney Plus list. The show hops from location to location, occasionally taking up a permanent position and also regularly sliding with the bad guys and main characters. Daring and at times a bit chaotic, but The Walking Dead is one of the best series of recent years. Sizzling tension, bloody confrontations, characters that develop themselves in a fantastic way and a lot of zombies. But really a lot.
5. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the title heroes (played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, respectively) try to make their way into the MCU after the passing of Captain America. But at the hands of the US military and the mysterious Flag Smashers, the duo must spring into action faster than they’d hoped. It could all have been told a bit more tightly, but that is more than made up for by the strong cast and action scenes that are hardly inferior to the Marvel cinema films. In addition, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is more than a spin-off of Captain America; the series has really profound implications for the Marvel universe.
4. Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey
Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey is a science documentary series. The series is seen as a successor/remake of the eighties series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage with Carl Sagan. This time we continue our course for the stars with astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the thirteen-part groundbreaking series, we travel across our cosmos in search of new worlds and old stars. One of the best series on Disney Plus for… well, all earthlings if we’re honest.
3. Gravity Falls
Gravity Falls left an indelible impression on kids and adults alike with just two seasons. Pretty handsome! This series mixes childish curiosity with adult themes. What’s it all about? We follow twins Dipper and Mabel Pines who have to spend a summer with their great uncle and his tourist company. But… Gravity Falls in Oregon is full of mysterious inhabitants and paranormal phenomena. One of the best series on Disney Plus and not just if you like the creeps!
2. The Simpsons
A show that has lasted for more than 30 seasons must of course be included in the best Disney Plus series. TV mammoth The Simpsons is still rock solid. The animation adventures of the dysfunctional Simpson family (plus all the other deranged residents of Springfield) are simply not boring. In addition, you can often enjoy cool celeb guest roles!
1. The Mandalorian
As the first true Disney Plus Original, Star Wars series The Mandalorian had to impress right away. And it worked: the ever-divided Star Wars fan base was completely positive for the first time. We follow a bounty hunter who, five years after the fall of the Empire, fills his solitary existence by hunting for money. However, when the Force creature The Child – aka ‘Baby Yoda’ – crosses his path, his life will never be the same again. If you don’t like our list of the best series on Disney Plus, let The Mandalorian be the reason for you to subscribe anyway. Trust us, you won’t regret it!
